Intersel was established in 1986 as a small electrical motor and generator repair facility. From this modest beginning, the company has developed and is now recognized as the leading specialist in the Gulf Region for the overhaul, repair, rewinding and testing of small, medium and large electrical motors and generators.
In-house repairs have ranged from fractional horsepower motors at low voltage to over 6000 hp at up to 13.8 kV. The largest generator stator and rotor repairs undertaken include a complete stator and rotor rewind of 39,540 kVA, 13.8 kV 3600 rpm “Brush Turbo Genrators”
Our involvement with offshore oil industry has been extensive, with the supply, repair and refurbishment of GE752 and EMD D79 traction motors, generators and eddy current brakes used to power off-shore and land based drilling rigs.
Site work has also developed with the rewinding of a 93,750 KVA Ansaldo generator being one of the major repairs undertaken. Our site engineers have worked in KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, India, Malaysia, Nigeria as well as all Emirates in the UAE.
Being situated in the Jebel Ali Free Zone UAE, Intersel has been heavily involved with marine electrical repairsranging from routine monitoring to the removal, rewinding and commissioning of ship’s generators.
DM was established as Intersel Engineering in 1986 by Ms. Guity Shokri to cater the demands for electromechanical services in MENA region. In 2008 Intersel merged with Dowding and Mills UK, then the name was changed to Intersel Dowding and Mills.
Our 100,000 sq ft facility is conveniently located in Jebel Ali Free Zone area with a well-equipped workshop of 15,000 sq ft and competent staff of more than 100 people. Through our Authorized Workshop agreement with Kato Engineering as well as Toshiba Mitsubishi – Electric Industrial Systems Corporation / TMEIC and our memberships with EASA, AEMT, IADC, SGS Baseefa for IECEX, we have access to some of the world’s finest motor design engineers and technical information.
At Intersel we run an extremely organized process to ensure that each and every machine that comes to our facility goes through a very precise and pre-defined stages of either overhaul or rewinding from the moment it arrives, until it leaves our workshop. Our primary focus is always on delivering best quality workmanship in every job that we undertake, and we assure this by having a dedicated team of QC/QA inspectors divided into groups on the floor and in the office. We continuously invest into upgrading of our equipment and facility to uphold our reputation and conserve our client’s confidence in our services.
