As a rotating equipment service leader in the Middle East, Intersel has provided services to a wide array of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and desalination plants in the region. We have extensive experience repairing, overhauling, and maintaining the complete range of motors and pumps used in the water and wastewater industry.
Intersel offers comprehensive support and mechanical and electrical repair service for pumps in the drinking/tap water supply. We offer end-to-end coverage to our water supply clients, i.e., from extraction (from wells and reservoirs/aquifers) to pumping stations responsible for transporting water to the consumers (residential and industrial).
Our services include (but are not limited to):
- Removal and installation of submersible, immersible, and on-ground centrifugal pumps of all makes and models (standard or custom) following OEM recommendations. We modify our installation process based on operational requirements or footprint limitations.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance of all the pumps in the water supply network (including pumping stations in the field). Data from predictive maintenance is gathered using our own comprehensive testing services and from sensors and smart instrumentation integrated with the pump.
- Complete mechanical and electrical repairs (including rewinding) conducted on-site or in the workshop.
Intersel’s certified technicians and engineers are experienced in working with both standard makes and models and custom ones. We can also offer maintenance and repair services for legacy or obsolete pumps, augmented by our reverse engineering capabilities.
We have been in the rotating equipment business since 1986, and over the decades, we have developed a thorough understanding of wastewater treatment operations (and their challenges). We have installed, removed, serviced, repaired, and overhauled pumps from all stages of the wastewater treatment, including sewage (raw wastewater), primary and secondary sludge, water treatment (lifted or inline), filter feed, and reclamation.
Intersel is also equipped to overhaul wastewater treatment systems to meet increased influx requirements, refurbish pumps for reuse to reclaim part of new installation costs, and test (both on-site and in the workshop) installed or overhauled pumps for new/extreme parameters. As an ISO-certified company with in-depth knowledge of regional compliance requirements, we can ensure that our clients’ rotating equipment and the flow processes they control are up to code.
As a trusted OEM alternative, we also offer comprehensive insulation, sealing, and metal spraying services necessary to prevent equipment degradation from exposure to wastewater in its various stages. We can restore the equipment to the original OEM configuration or enhance it for longevity or a more feasible maintenance schedule.
Intersel has extensive experience working with desalination plants in the Middle East, which include some of the largest desalination facilities in the world. We offer complete repair, maintenance, installation/removal, and overhaul services for rotating equipment (mainly pumps) used in the two types of desalination plants – thermal (including Multi-Stage Flash) and RO (Reverse Osmosis). We also offer these services for the generators used in these facilities, including on-site rewinding and emergency shutdown support services.

The industrial water supply and wastewater processes are significantly different from commercial water supply and wastewater treatment. Higher temperatures and pressure requirements and rigorous treatment processes (chemical waste) require a radically different approach which differs from industry to industry. Our knowledge of water and wastewater flow in different industries and the ability to reverse engineer rotating equipment when there is no or limited documentation or OEM support available makes us an ideal partner for a variety of industrial clients.
In addition to conventional maintenance and repair services (on-site and off-site) to different water and wastewater facilities, we also offer machining and fabrication services. This allows us to offer replacement parts for custom-designed or obsolete pumps. Our state-of-the-art workshop and rapid turn-around time make us a better choice for most constituents of the water and wastewater industry in the Middle East, even when OEM support for custom or legacy parts is available.
